Determination of migration levels of 18 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in food contact materials

A method for analyzing 18 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in food contact materials by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) has been established. The Equity-5 (30 m × 0.25 mm × 0.25 μm) quartz capillary column is used for component separation, and a mass spectrometer is employed for detection. Qualitative analysis is carried out by comparing the retention times and standard mass spectra and characteristic ions of the standard substances. Quantification is performed using the external standard method.
